Portal 2 Authoring Tools beta out now

Valve has opened up the beta of the Portal 2 Authoring Tools for everyone to get their hands on.

The beta tools are available as a free download for owners of the PC version of Portal 2 and can be accessed through the 'Tools' tab in Steam.

World of Warcraft Patch 4.1: Guild Challenges, streamlined Dungeon Finder and more




Blizzard have deployed patch 4.1 and a few respective hotfixes for World of Warcraft.

The latest patch features a new level 85 Stranglethorn quest line, updated dungeons, all-new gear, rare mounts, pets, and some odd-sounding tweaks like this: “Gag Order now applies to Pummel and Heroic Throw”.

New Max Payne 3 screens !



Rockstar are pushing the Max Payne hype machine into the next gear, firing out some new screen shots to wow us all. These new images really do tell a new story for the third game in the series, giving the impression that it will follow Max from his days as a NYC detective to a change of career and fashion style philosophy in São Paulo.

Fable 3 is coming to Steam, is available to pre-order now

When Fable 3 hits PC on May 20, it won’t just be confined to Microsoft’s Games for Windows Live service. It will also be available to buy through Steam. The game will be available to buy digitally on both platforms, and will come with different bonuses. Given that Microsoft own Lionhead, the appearance of a game on any service other than Games for Windows Live is an interesting shift.

Battlefield 3 pre-orders unlock Battlefield Play4Free items and weapons



Players that pre-order Battlefield 3 will get free items in Battlefield Play4Free, according to a new post on the Battlefield blog. The bonus unlocks include a bright yellow beret, and more importantly, a Battlefield 3 Edition 870 Combat shotgun, described as being “one of the most effective close-quarter weapons in history.”

Alienware Updates M11x, Introduces M14x and M18x Gaming Laptops



Today Alienware introduced two new additions to its lineup of gaming laptops, the new 14-inch M14x and 18-inch M18x. 
The M18x will launch as Alienware's flagship laptop, boasting a massive 18.4-inch 1080p HD WLED display, dual GPU configurations from both AMD and NVIDIA with GDDR5 memory, Intel's new Huron River architecture 

Minecraft 1.5 update is live




Notch has updated his blog to announce that the Minecraft 1.5 patch is now live! The update adds a full achievements system to Minecraft, and brings rain snow and thunder to its cuboid worlds. As a bonus effect,pigs struck by lighting from the thunderstorms will be transformed into zombie pigmen. You can see footage of the new weather effects in the recent Minecraft 1.5 trailer.

If you find any bugs in the update, fixes might be slow to arrive. Notch also tweeted about patch 1.5 to say “I’m not reading twitter or email until I’ve beaten Portal 2, I won’t know about any bugs in it. ;D.”

Portal 2 is highest rated game of 2011 (so far)


UK and US Portal 2 review scores went live this morning, and the outpouring of acclaim from press worldwide has already seen the Valve sequel become the highest rated game of 2011... so far.

As Metracritic shows, Portal 2 on PC currently carries an average review score of 96 per cent. On PS3 the sequel also carries an average press rating of 96 per cent and Xbox 360's sitting on 95 per cent.

Mortal Kombat screenshots


Mortal Kombat might be out in the US but European Kombatants still have a few days to wait before they can get their hands on NetherRealm Studios' latest fighting game.


Fortunately the studio that Ed Boon built have kindly provided cvg.co.uk with a few more high-resolution screens from the game. The latest batch features characters including Cyrax, Jax, Ermac, Nightwolf and Stryker mutilating other characters in brutal fights.

Dropbox Hits 25 Millions Users, 200 Million Files Per Day


Dropbox will announce a number of milestones on Monday morning, we’ve learned. The file backup and sharing service was founded in 2007 by Drew Houston and Arash Ferdowsi. It was in one of the early Y Combinator classes, now has 25 million users and 200 million files are “saved” daily, and more than 1 million every five minutes.

Microsoft E3 2011 Press Conference Date


Microsoft today confirmed the schedule for its E3 2011 media briefing. The conference will begin on Monday, June 6 starting at 9 a.m. PST. Sony's conference kicks off later in the day at 5 p.m. PST. Nintendo has not confirmed press conference details.

Uncharted 3: Multiplayer details, beta dated




Naughty Dog's released official details on Uncharted 3's multiplayer mode, as well as confirming a PSN beta for late June.
The Multiplayer Beta for Uncharted 3 begins worldwide on June 28, with early access going to PlayStation Plus members or by purchasing specially marked copies of Infamous 2, the
developer's confirmed.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim new screens whit orcs huge spiders





Skyrim was shown off at a secret location in Utah last week, which has given rise to some fantastic new screens for The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Venture below for cat men, dragons, undead warriors and some lovely scenery.
